Journal Blog #3: What is your life span?

I sometimes wonder about this as I'm now older than before. I drink a lot of coffee, so my heart is under a lot of pressure these days. But I eat well and exercise a lot, and have a relatively unstressful life, other than Bangkok traffic and my crazy dog.

I also think technology is changing a lot, and I wonder if the future will be like the Matrix and a computer chip will be implanted in my spine, so my body just keeps working forever. We read that healthy eating, relaxing culture, and good genes help us to live longer, but maybe in the end, technology will save us (or destroy us?). I'd like to hear from you.

    I think I eat quite well,exercise and i did not smoke so my life would probably be longer than smokers or other people who dont eat well and dont exercise. One of my problem is im overweight
    if i dont loose some weight maybe those fat toxic cells would cause me problem about those diseases such as Diabetes,obesity and so on. So,i need to loose some weight to longer my life span. Technoly helps us alot these days not only it has been use to find the problems but also cure it.Sometimes technology could make the symtoms even worse. But i believe in the future the technology will be more advanced and it will help us mandkind to live even longer.

    I often play sport, eat quite good food and I’m not smoking or drinking anything. In my opinion, eating well could help us to live longer. Moreover, religion and culture could also help us to keep our mind in a good way like the Buddhist, who were teach not to drink and smoke. Good genes help us to live longer? May be true, because I heard that if your parents have diabetes, there children tend to get diabetes from their parent too. Nowadays, technology has changed a lot. It can help the doctor to find diseases in our body that we cannot see and if there is a computer chip like what you say, I would probably buy one of them, so that I can live forever.

    I think, eating healthy foods can extend your life time, of course, we are all know that, but the technology is a part of long life too. Nowadays, doctors can apply the technology to the medical treatment perfectly. The risk is quite rare. but people's quotidian is uncontrollable. They keep eating and eating until they realize how overweight they are together with the severe anxiety. Finally, they really get diabetes and other severe diseases that the technology cannot help either. In my opinion, I think eating properly, exercise, and giving a life reward are something you must do..just sit back relax and enjoy your life without worrying anything. For summary, I think technology can be compared with the sword that has either advantages or disadvantages.

    I exercise 3 days per week and I do not drink or smoke. I think that because of my good lifestyle will make I live longer than people who always drink and smoke. Moreover, I take care of what do I eat. There is a limit of sugar I take per day. About the technology, I think it likes a two-edged sword. The medical can improve technology to save more human on earth than the past but in the difference way it also harm people too. Computer is one of the best example in this case. You can get good things from it and you can get harm from it. Scientist may use technology to help people but others can use it to destroy theirs brain by playing games all the time. We must control our self when we use technology, and I think I quite do it well so I will live until 70 or 75 years old.

    It seems like everyone says that they don't smoke and drink so they'd live for quite long. However, in my opinion, in future smoking and drinking won't matter anymore. Well, I do play basketball every week and control my diet, but my point is that medical technology is improving every second, and in 30~40 years there should be huge improvement to it like it always has and who knows? we might even be able to live for 150~200 years!
    As for the effect technology will have on our lives, I agree with others opinion that it would be a two edge sword. On one hand, it probably will make our lives easier and safer but on the other hand, as technology advances, technology used on crimes would probably get better as well. Moreover, even now there is an electro sound that has an affect like addictive drugs and I can't possibly imagine how it would be in furthur future.

    Consumption of proper diet food like vegetables, fruits etc are one of the most important factors of long living. To be truthful, I don’t eat a proper diet food [but I exercise] as I live with my brothers and sisters. Everyone has their own work to do and there is no one to cook for us. Genes can also be a part of long living. A child may live as long as his/her parents or suffer some diseases that his/her parents carry. Also, according to many of the Thai people’s faith, avoiding themselves from all the sins and doing good thing or doing religious practices will help them live longer. I do believe in some points i.e. karma. Technology is now a life saver for many people as it helps to cure diseases. So, there is a chance in the future that technology can also help us live longer.
    I don’t know how long will I live. But, I’m sure that I will live longer than those who smoke and drink alcohol.

    People can live whether long or short is depended on their behaviors and opinions. There are some main factors that can make people can long live. Firstly, eating habit is one of the most important of all, being a vegetarian is very healthy for those of whom are not doing exercise because vegetable and fruit can keep body functions work properly but for the sport players need energy from protein. Secondly, avoiding risky activities or events is one way to reduce chances to get killed before the time, such as using illicit drugs, violation of the laws that are concerned with safety. Thirdly, religious beliefs can be applied to live long as well, for instance, in Buddhism, Buddhists believe in karma that are concerned with consequences of actions, if people who are wrongdoers then the results of actions could be from afflictions to death. Consequently, people must have consciousness before actions because consciousness is not concerned only one life but the others as well.

  8. Eating healthy, living in the non stressful atmosphere, non-smoker, exercise are all the consistences of modern healthy life. However, in my opinion, all those aspects would not be matter in the future. Moreover, as I am typing this, the medical technology is improving rapidly and constantly. In the near future, all the diseases including cancer or aids might be cured by only a dose of pill. On the other hand, if the improved medical method are used in the unappropriated way, it would be the disaster to all the living things on earth especially ourselves.

  9. Technologies can be helpful for saving people's life, but too much use of technologies can be troublesome. Technologies come from exploitation and consumption of resources. Damaged earth can make species extinct. Someday we might die from global warming, though we are sufficient of medications

    I try to eat healthy food at least 2-3 days a week whether it is vegetables or fruits, but because I'm not so free as before I tend to do less exercise, which is not really good, but whenever I have time I try to go to the gym or at least go running for 30 minutes. I don't smoke so I think that is one good point that will make me stay healthy. Technology has inproven a lot over time weather it is in a good or bad way. Nowadays we depend so much on technology. The good point of technology is that it helps us live longer and help us find root cause of disease, and the bad point is that we become lazy and lack communication.

    Normally, I eat many kinds of food either healthy and junk food. I don't smoke as well as drinking alcohol. I hardly participating in badminton class or sometimes going exercise on weekend. Also, I typically go to bed late in order to do the assignments including doing housework and I feel I'm getting fat now. Therefore, I'd better take a rest ,need plenty of sleep because I will be exhausted and even sick. Moreover, I have to go exercise to lose some weight. In my opinion, I think the technology makes our life convenient but it provides in both advantages and disadvantages, so I think it should not participate much in our life if it sometimes is not necessary to use, I will avoid to choose other ways instead.

    I think I have a pretty good lifestyle. I do exercise and eat good food as much as I could. For me, the things I ate really matter to me. I’m trying my best not to eat too much fat and over eating. But my problem that can shorter my life would be my stress from the things that is challenging for me. As a colleger, I have to work really hard and have less time taking care of myself. I have to stay up late to complete my work. Well, I’m trying my best to fix this problem by hanging out with friends and consulting with my parents. For the medical technology, I think it does help to extend and improve our lives. As we grow older so does the technology. It would never stop and will continue to surprise us with new ways of solving our health problem. We might all be able to reach 120 or more. But having this technology improvement doesn’t always good. It makes people think less about their actions and tend to rely on the technology when they have problems. Instead of eating good food and exercise, people might just work all day long and eat only junk food, not getting enough exercise. But over all, it doesn’t really matter to me how long I going to live but the moments I enjoy and spend in everyday life really does matter.

    Nowadays, various technologies are improving everyday. Most of them I think, are actual useful and directly improving our life quality such as communications, transportations and especially medical treatments technology. Especially latter one, I've experienced it myself and it was quite impressed me.

    Last few year, I accidentally got Pneumothorax in my both lungs and later cured by advanced operation technique called keyhole surgery which I was never heard before. This medical treatments caused me just a few scars (estimated 2 cm.) on my breast and it took about 3 months to recovered from pain.

    As a result, from my point of view, whether medical technology is improving everyday, but it's still depending on us that will take care of ourselves or not. If we're eating well, not over thinking or stressing, and exercising everyday, we can live longer and increase our life span without any aid of medical technology for sure.

    For me, I eat more than exercise. I eat every kind of food that I like. I think it doesn't matter to know how long we are going to live as we keep thinking positive. Thinking is the most important thing because it can lead to the reaction and it effects everything you do. In my opinion, technology is now improving people's lifestyle and also about health and science. It keeps changing to be more advanced. It may help us to survive longer in the future.

    In my daily life, I try to eat healthy food but I usually eat my favorite kind of food including junk food or some high calories dessert. And nowadays, I hardly enter the gym, do some exercises and play sports so I think that my health is not quite good which leads to my frequent sickness. However , everybody must also take care of their mental health , because it can affect your health and daily performances directly. Thus, nowadays advanced technology is one choice for everyone's convenient and comfortable life styles but it needed proper and wise usage , otherwise it can give you bad results and waste much of your precious time for doing some valuable things for yourself or your family.

    I like to spend times on readind books and playing computer. I don't like to eat a lot of foods beacause I don't want to eat too much. I don't exercise regulary because , like what I've said , I like to spend times on reading books and playing computer. I know that it is bad but I like the way I spend my life rightnow. I am happy with everything I do. (It is strange but I am 'always' healthy. I don't know why. Maybe beacuse of what I eat.) I don't care about how long I'm going to live but I care about how I'm going to spend my life. (Because we don't know when we're going to die.)
    ......And more, much more than this, I did it 'my way'. (^ ^)

    About my lifestyle, I always spend most of times in library and my dormitory reading books and using internet.I'm not usually play sports and never go to fitness, but I love to walk and ride a bicycle.I also hate smoking.

    In my opinion, I'm not really care about how long my live is, I just try to do my best with everything.However, I love to imagine about our world in the future, what innovation they gonna create or if they can make the medicine that can cure every diseases. And I'm sure that in the future everything will be improved, may be it cans make us live longer.

    I was born healthy without any medical conditions and never spent a night at any hospitals. Well, I was so sure about that before the uncountable amount of nicotine that hit me. Not to mention, the alcohol and junk foods I've consumed. I wish I could turn back time.

    I have to admit I've lived an unhealthy life for quite a few years and I'm not so sure about my health condition. One thing I did realized is if I keep on living this way I will not live long enough to congratulate my kids at the graduation ceremony. I wish I could turn back time...

    For quite a while I have try my best to quit smoking by smoking cigars instead (let me finish..) it happens to be that cigar smokers doesn't tend to inhale that much! Nowadays, I take nicotine tablets and don't even smoked for many days. I did try my best....

    I should get a full health check-up don't I..

    For me, I think that technology will ruin our life in such many ways. For instant, social network is now extremely popular. Many people, including me, spend countless hours on that. After doing this for a certain time, I actually feel that my fingers are kind of stick together and i'm not feeling well with it.
    Nowadays, People work more and more on computer and what actually be a problem here is that they sit in inappropriate poses which finally cause them some issues with their body structure.

    life spand of each person is difference depend on each and everyone life style, environment, and also may be the different in gene. i think, those people who born with the good gene is a gift from god. those gene itself helped the person to originally live longer than those with weak gene, and with the help of healthy diet the person seem to be living longer than others. the practices of life due to the cultural and religious also help person to stay calm and unstressful, which reduces the stress hormone that may make life shorter. Anyhow the healthy diet and healthy life style are the big sources of life expectancy

    i think life span of each person is depend on their behavior and lifestyle such as diet and exercise. People who eat healthy and exercise daily usually have a longer life but in some cases people who eat unhealthy food and didn't exercise regularly are happened to be healthy too. In this case, it can be explained that genetic is involve. Parents that has strong gene tend to have a healthy child. In my personal opinion about technology, i think that it's would provide a benefit for humankinds but it also depend on our behavior whether to use it in good way or bad way.

    My lifestyle is very simple, I eat proper meal but I also like to junk food sometime but not really fond of eating .I am healthy because I don’t do exercise and like to seat more. I was home for one year and I lost some weight because of hula-hoop,I love to do this and I also like to play badminton but sometime I don’t have time to do this all. I always try to set my timetable but always fail. All can stay fit and healthy if they good diet, good time table throughout day and know what to do but these no one has time to do this all because day by day people are becoming lazy and just want to do one work a day like going school and going office and when they come home they just want to eat and rest.

    I think my lifestyle is quite simple. In one week, I almost spend time at University, and then I go back home. I love to spend time with my friends and chat with them, but I really don't to hang out with them because I'm lazy :(. I love to stay at home and lie on my bed. It make me feel relax and happy. Also, I always have meals with my family. Almost everyday we go out to eat food in the evening(aruond 6-8PM). Woww!! eating in evening. It makes us fat. We always say this sentence in our family, but it does no meaning. We still do until now. But, after I became MUIC student. I lifestyle change a bit. It seems like everything is hurry. I have to rush to do it in order to finish in time. It sound like funny, but it's true. However, I don't to be stress, therefore I have some day that is my relax day which are Sunday, Saturday and other holiday. I try to avoid to do everything in those days such as homework and find another activity to relax myself. All of these are my simple lifestyle.

    life spend is not the same for everyone, one might have long live and some may not. Still, it depends on people lifestyle. Happy live, happy community, unstressed life is the key that lead to long live. In my opinion, technology are involved in make people live longer, but the main things are the factor I mentioned above. Therefore,technology will help people to have healthy life but with out the good mental health, technology can't make you live longer

    In my lifestyle, I always try to have only healthy food and appropriate amount of relaxation. I believe that both of them are important to human’s bodies because our body should deserve only good things from food and taking a break when they are needed. I try to consume the food that consisting of five important nutrition (including protein, carbohydrate, vitamin, fiber and fat) in an appropriate amount, otherwise you can be obese or lacking of nutrition, if you miss the appropriateness.

    In additional, some people argued that technology also saves our life to be able to live longer. I partially agree with that because some technologies can really help us like medical equipment or educational equipment. However, some technologies can also kill us too, especially for the mistaken usage. For example, using computer only to play computer games and play it too long. This problem will cause the users to have damage on eye sight.

    In conclusion, I think to have a long life being, the most important thing is you should have a healthy eating. Using the technologies that meet your purpose and on the appropriate amount of time. Playing computer games is not wrong because human need relaxation but should base on the appropriateness too. Finally, doing sports also important, at least a couple hours a week should be fine, better than doing nothing.

    In my opinion, life span is related to lifestyle such as process of eating, getting enough exercise and heathy food. As you can see, people who always eat vegetables, fruits and fresh food are more likely to live longer than people who eat unhealthy food such as junk food. Moreover, society is a one reason that relate to life span. For example, nowadays, air pollution from car cause to many diseases such as respiratory disease. However, in recently years, we have a advance technology, so people can live longer that the past.

    In my opinion, i think technology helps us in many ways such as communication from far away. Or webcam that able us to see each other through internet. However there are also side effects to technology such as playing a lot of computers ruin your eye sight, talking on the phone for a long time effects the electron path ways in your brain. But as you aged, the whole of your body is effect, your bones are softer, your muscle begins to relax and your heart doesn't beat as fast. Most of your metabolism slows down. But i don't think its a good idea to live for ever, because if you do, there wouldn't be any meaning of life because u'll never die and there will never be great history for the world to remember.

    Technology, to me, is a two edged sword. Throughout the history of mankind, technology creates many kinds of products that served us in various ways. Vehicles help in distributing basic necessity, reducing death rate by almost 25%. Medicines help us to fight diseases and doubled our lifespan in the past decade. We all know about the advantages of technology but few would consider about the disaster that would occur due to technology in the close future. Terrorists are becoming more powerful than ever. Much more people would die in a war as weapons develop along with technology. Many philosophers believe that the next World War would be the end of the world.
    However, in the past, technology had proved itself in creating a better life and longer lifespan for the humankind.
