The theme for this term's edition of ERS is Art. One can be artistic, but then if not, one can also be artful. One does not need to know much about art to appreciate it or be moved by it.We often think about Art as a painting on a wall of landscapes and ponds and people, or we may think about great sculptures of ancient Greece or Italy. But in fact, Art is all around us, whether it is a cleverly designed billboard at the BTS, a thought provoking poem on the wall of a bathroom stall, or an App on your iPhone about almost nothing at all.
For this first Journal Blog, I want you describe what comes to your mind when you consider the word, Art. Do you think about those classical pieces of art or does it mean something else. I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Delete#5580508 section 11 In my view, art is beautiful which mean a lot to me. Firstly, art is my happiness. Whenever my mood is off, I always color the paper in the bad shape. I know that it looks bad, but it always make me feel better after doing it so. On the other hand, I often draw sky or paint sky on the paper when I feel good. In addition, cosmetic also involve in my happiness too, and cosmetic or make up is arts because I think I always smile when their is a make up on face. I really can express my feeling through arts. Secondly, art is the culture, tradition and our nationality. Thai people always "wai" to show our respect to elder. This is Thai arts. Another art is Thai boxing. Many countries around the world try to copy this Thai art, but none of the country is better than Thai. I really feel good that I have Thai nationality. FInally, I have to spend more money due to arts. Actually, I can use the simply pen with no design, but it works on the paper. However, I often spend more money because of the art on the pen. Moreover, arts through the advertising make me feel fatter because of their advertising on the television. This is all my thinking through the word of arts.

Art could be sculptures or painting, modern architecture or even the food we eat! In my opinion the paintings and sculpture are the “classic” art in which it inspire many aspects of life: The influence of art could be seen in castle, or in monuments such as Le Tour Eiffel in Paris. Art is creativity in its purest form, all the art that is created by a 3 year old child or Picasso portrays human’s creativity. Art is a like a things (drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture,food, etc) that inspire emotion in the viewer’s conscience. It is something that gives the world a colorful dash of “life” or feeling. Without art that inspire our life the world would be a dull place to live in. After all, art dominates the world since the beginning of time: accessories, clothes, jewels etc. everything is influence by art! So the term “art” for me is such a board term that could be use to describe anything that is the products of creativities. Art is not limited by the form of painting and drawing that people mostly think: It is in everything that surrounded us.

People use art to convey their messages to the public in various forms of creativity such as paintings, graffiti, sculptures, etc. However, for me, art does not always have to be in the form of paintings, sculpture, etc.; it can also be written work such as novels and poems which also display author's creativity.

This is because in the real life, everyone has the right to think freely, but we can present our ideas limitedly due to the differences in cultures and values. However, in the art world, people can show what they think by way of art, and others can get the meaning and understand it in different way based on their sense. That's all why I believe that art means independence.

I like to see what the world is going, and I also like an old picture which showed about the past. From the picture I can see what things have changed and how it changes. I like the architectures as well such as the buildings in Italy or Egypt. However, I don't like the picture from painting sometimes these pictures makes me confused. For reason that I don't like because I don't like drawing and not good in this. LOL

For me the first thing that comes up to my mind when I think of art is arts are beautiful. Artworks can be reflected the feeling of the makers and I respect the idea of the makers, I do never think that any artworks are bad because I maybe do not understand what the makers's idea. I agree with the statement that "Art is all around us". People can see arts anywhere even though the wall. It has own art.

For example, the architects have to design the pattern of houses before build or when people think something in their head they usually think like pictures in their head. Art is also appear on everything. Since in the past, art has an important role for people. There may be an art to settling an argument. There may be an art to making someone feel confident or relieved. I believe you're right about this.

However, if you think carefully art is everything and everywhere around us. For example, a pile of pebbles, graffiti on a wall, or a piece of accessories on your body can be called an art. It can be created by humans or the nature. To define whether the thing in front of you is an art or not, depends on your perspective.This is why there's no right or wrong answer in the world of art. It gives us freedom to express our personal ideas through photos, drawing or even a written piece of work. Some people also use art to communicate with each other. But, personally i prefer to communicate with others by speaking. This is because most of the time it took me forever to finally understand the idea or concept behind each piece of work.

The goal of the art is to make the viewer realize what is the message behind the passage. There are many forms of art in today’s society; the one I believe to be most influential is the art of music. Music has been a part of human mankind for centuries and yet through out former times we have experienced many kinds of musical art. People usually have their own interest in the art of music; different people will favor different kinds of music, depending on their life style and what they believe will influence the way the think most. Different artists have different ways to portray their own message therefore we can find all sorts of art such as jazz, hip-hop, opera, soul, rock, etc. throughout the history of music.

Artistic is represented by artists who show their emotion, opinion, assumption and belief. When this word, 'ART' appeared on my mind, reminding me for beautiful art works. Some are doubtful or abstruse, but they let us think or feel with them. Arts do not stand for only gorgeous drawing, painting or decorative arts but they are also musical, photograph or interactive media. Looking around, there are many arts encircle around you. Every advertisements I see are also art which belongs to communication design branch. Everything around us has made by creativity and circulated spread to us. Art is not limited by only paintings or drawings. In fact, it was hidden around us everywhere. Even a dot on a piece of paper can be considered as an Art if it does make any change on our thoughts or feelings. Art is something that causes a motivation that brings people to the development of actions. From time to time, Art is always embedded in the abstract things, such as cultures and thoughts, and concrete things such as buildings.
The term of Art changes from one to another due to people’s aspects. One can say a thing while one can say another. Each person has their own dimension of interpreting things.
Therefore, there is no fix word in describing the term of “Art” as well as its own work.
So is there such a thing as good art? high art? great art? And then again, is there bad art? If art is anything to anyone, how can can we judge the standard of art? I wonder what you think.

ReplyDeleteFor me, art is undefinable things and parts of our life. When i was young, I just considered painting and sculptures as art. Of course, these things are art, but it is typical one most people basically think. In fact, it can be something else, such as song, act, creative thoughts and so on, which are invisible and around us. Therefore, we sometimes pass them by unconsciously, since they are so familiar. For examples, design of shoes and clothes is a part of art. Even, electronics, such as computer and mobile phone, are art. Because of these reasons, I think art is undefinable and parts of our life. One more speaking, as time goes by, art will capture more parts of our life than it does now.
It is true that we have expanded the definition of art, and it often does mean more materialistic things. Do you miss the old ideas about art? Or has popular culture made art into just a normal thing?

This creation can be in many different ways that have an impact to the human life. As art can be a masterpiece that is not really recognized as there is the belief that artist dont be come famous until there death. This statement to a certain extent can be false as there are many young artist out there that are famous now such as the singer adele. In the future art would be an important to our society as people start the feel of imagination to succeed in life.
I like this. Art is often ahead of its time. The best artists seem to know what is coming before the rest of it, and it is only later that we come to know how good a piece of art really is. Good comment.

Moreover, art is not just a piece of work, but it has many values and meaning on its own. As we know when we was young, painting or drawing is an activity that we usually do it during free time. We do not care about the result. We just use our own imagination and emotion to create one picture. The artists also do the same thing as people did, but they may come up with their own artful. That making their works more attraction and unique. Therefore, the art never be ugly, it depends on how people thing of that. Moreover, we should include cooking, singing, and dancing in the art because all this thing also rely on emotion and imagination.

Everything, from doodles in classes to a letter to your lover is art. It is someone's feeling modified into something we can all see. And that is what I think "art" is.
