In class, we have read about Aung San Suu Kyi, the freedom fighter of Burma. Her life and leadership is inspiring, and at least for me, makes me want to be a better person in my life. The sacrifice that she makes for her country, and the principles that she symbolizes are things that make me reflect on what I can do better not only for myself in my life but for others as well.
Others may think about a parent when they think of a leader. Maybe a coach or a teacher of some kind. In this journal blog, I'd like you to describe your perfect example of a leader and explain why.
Make sure you include your ID# with you post. I look forward to reading your thoughts. Aj. M

ReplyDeleteMahatma Gandhi has done a lot more than just be an example of a perfect leader to me. Although I haven't personally met this extravant human, his characteristics, not just of a leader, but those that every human should live by have become my guidelines to live a successful life. Gandhi, a non-violence activist, suffered many years in prison and went on frequent hunger strikes that lasted days for India's freedom. Besides being a freedom fighter, Gandhi lived a simple life. He didn't need a lot to be content, and realized that his happiness came from bringing peace. Even after India gained independence, Gandhi walked bare feet, and in robes. His humbleness and determination to achieve his goal even after failure reminds me to not give up easily. Gandhi was not just a leader, he is an example.
Gandhi is a good person to admire, and maybe the most unlikely leader in our memory. I like this one.

ReplyDeleteHis Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the very first person that pops into my mind. Even though thailand change to a democratic country, which reduces the kings power, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej still doing whatever he could to serve his people. In fact, he does not have to, if he do not want to. He has to sacrifice many things. As an example, he became a king since he was 18 years old so he did not spend his teenage life like the other ordinary teenagers. Moreover, he travel to many distant places, such as up on the hills or places that faces terrible natural disaster,in order to help his people as much as he could. In addition, many projects, namely monkey cheeks and artificial rain project, are established to prevent and mitigate natural disasters.
A natural choice for a great leader, and one who became a leader not by choice but necessity.

ReplyDelete"True success is not in the learning, but in its application to the benefit of mankind", once said by his Royal Majesty King Ananda Mahidol(RAMA VIII). This is the idea , I think, a leader should have and I, as a student of Mahidol University, strongly agree to that. Leaders should not think only about himself but the benefit for all. He was born a leader and he proved himself as a leader in various way. His action won the heart of all Thai people in a very short period after his return from Switzerland. One of his many memorable act was visiting his people in Soi Sam Peng right after the second world war which was, at the moment, a very tensed lane as there are a lot of Chinese people living there. He showed his concern about his people more than himself which , according to me, is the most important quality of a good leader.
I like this comment, and its one that marks the motto of our university. These are ideas that certainly lead us even today.

ReplyDeleteThe perfect leader of my mind is Captain John Terry of Chelsea football club. I may choose him just because I am Chelsea fan, but when I think back to events in the past that he has been doing for his team and teammates for many years, I really think that he is the most perfect leader that I ever have seen in my life. I always remember the one of his speech, 'Captain is not the greatest player in a team, but is a person who pulls your teammates up when they fall down'. From the speech, I see that he does everything following what he said all the time. He always cheers up his players when his team follows against teams. He always supports his players when they are in troubles. He always wants his team win over any teams. Finally, he always trusts his teammates and respects his fans.
There are people who can bring us together, motivate us, and push us to do things we didn't think we could do before. Sports leaders often have this quality.

ReplyDelete"A man who won't die for something is not fit to live." These are wise words spoken by a very inspirational individual who I believe to be a perfect leader, Martin luther king. When we talk about prejudice or racists and how it has changed over the years. The first thing that comes up in our minds is Martin luther King and what a great leader he was. He bought justice to his people, he reunited black and whites and spoke from his heart to create diversity. In addition, he also led marches for african-americans's right to vote and other basic civil rights. Not only was he a perfect leader, but he was and still is a inspriration to many people around the world.
King is one of the most important people in US history. He was a black reverend, and he followed in the same tradition of Gandhi, to fight for rights without violence. Very inspirational.

ReplyDeleteAccording to my point of view, Phra Chula Chomklao Chaoyuhua, or known as King Rama V, is the perfect leader of Thai citizens ever. He has to sacrifice his teenager life for the benefit of the country. He inherit the throne from his father at the age of 15. Moreover, King Rama V helped develop our country in various ways. He brought in western traditions, technologies, political organization, etc. Besides, the most memorable thing he has done for his people was to abolish slavery, which I believe will always be an unforgettable thing that he has done for all Thai people.
Historical leaders are great examples, and they are who we continue to listen to and follow in our lives today. This is a good comment.

ReplyDeletePersonally, princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the third child of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, is one of the most successful leaders in Thailand. Undoubtedly, Thai people know that she has done so many good things for this country. She lives her life sufficiently. Furthermore, she always help people as much as she could. Thailand developed a lot because of her. She is often referred to as the "Princess of Technology" or the "Princess of Information Technology"(Wikipedia, 2013). She always there to help people and develop this country unconditionally.
She is certainly one of the most impressive and admired people of Thailand, not just here, but around the world. This is a great example.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think Mother Teresa is one the best leaders in the world. She established many charities for poor and sick people all around the world, especially in India where plenty of dying and starving people are. Mother Teresa sacrificed herself saving others even she caught many fatal deceases, she once said 'The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted.'. This kind of quote makes me feel that she did really care about other mankind, even she did not get anything in return. Therefore, I think her doings are good example of what a leader should do in order to be an excellent leader.
It is quite unbelievable that such an unassuming and unlikely person could inspire so many people.

ReplyDeleteIf think of a leader that is not my parents, a person that pops up in my mind would be, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, our king. He did created many fascinating projects that helped many poor people in Thailand. For example, he has improve tribes in the north of Thailand by shifted from harvest Dauphin into strawberry which made huge amount of income for them and legally. Even though, King Bhumibol does not have responsibility for all these things, but he willingness to help his people. Finally, what make me honor the king is that he never illustrated exhaustion and surrender to anything he did for the country. This inspiration make strengthen myself again when I faced difficulties.
A very natural choice and one who we look to for leadership in our daily lives.

ReplyDeleteMy personal perfect leader would be someone who is capable of making significant benefits within the group that he is in charge. A strong ambitious initiator like Genghis Khan is my ideal model. Personally I believe that the capability of making your own society developed is one of the most pivotal aspects that a leader must have because leaders are always responsible to make his community better. Genghis Khan's achievements have not only brought fortune to his country, but also magnificent inspiration and pride derived to his people is the enormous effects that the Mongol Empire could maintain its momentum to conquer other nations from Asia to Europe for centuries.
Interesting choice. It is quite amazing that the actions of a figure in quite long-back history could have effects to people so many generations after.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the king of Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the one that suit the word perfect leader. He has shown us all that he really love Thai people. He keep working hard not for him or for money at all, all he only want is to make us, Thai people live happily and have peacefully life. Even now it already been 67 years that he has been our king. He still keep thinking and always look forward to help Thailand as much as he could. He never once spent money on useless thing or the thing that is no need even he is the king. Thus, I think if he was younger now, he will be still working hard for his beloved country for sure and everyday we will always see him in the television. Love Live the King!.

ReplyDeleteFor me, I would say that our king Rama 9 is one of the perfect
examples. He does a lot of benefits to Thai people and the country. Moreover, he has created many programs that help people who live in the countryside and resolve drought problem. One thing that makes me really pleased is when I see his picture and video. He was walking in an undeveloped area and trying to solve the problems around that area. Even though he does not need to care about that people, but he still does it because he loves his people. This is why I choose king Rama 9 to be an example of good leaders.
He is a multi-talented leader who has helped the country in so many aspects, from developmental, economic, to cultural.

ReplyDeleteThere are many leaders in history, not many of them were recognized as the great leader. In my opinion, Cao Cao is the good example of a leader. He was a warlord in Chinese three kingdoms period. In the Romance of Three Kingdoms, Cao Cao was considered as the brutal and merciless person but in the history he was also praised as the intelligent governor and brilliant army leader. It is undeniable that there were a lot of great leaders during the Three Kingdoms period in China but there are many reasons that made Cao Cao outstanding than the others. For example, Cao Cao was known as the father of the army. He loved his soldiers as much as he loved his family. There is a story told that one night during the war, his camp was attacked by the enemy and his bodyguard gave Cao Cao his horse for running away. Cao Cao survived that night but many of his solders died even his son, Cao Ang. At the funeral, Cao Cao cried front of his followers, not because of the death of his son but the death of his bodyguard who sacrificed his life for protecting him. Moreover, Cao Cao was not only love his army like his family but he was also brilliant leader. He knew how to use the potential of his subordinates to reach a victory. He knew how to win people's heart. He did not care where were his subordinates from. He did not care if his followers whether rich or poor. He gave them the equality. In ancient time, there are many warlord died because of war but not Cao Cao, he ruled China as the king's regent for many years until he died from stroke at the age of 66. I personally think that he is the great leader. He loved his people. He did not take side. He listened to his subordinates' opinions and considered them himself. Cao Cao had many good qualities that the great leader should has. I think he deserved to be one of the greatest leader ever.
This is quite an unusual example, but maybe not. I'm not familiar with Cao Cao, but I'm glad that I am now. Army leaders are very interesting characters, because they do things that most of us could not imagine doing.

ReplyDeleteI believe the perfect leader in history of mankind is king Bhumibol Adulyadej. He is the king of Thailand. Many people respect and look up to him as a "father". He ruled Thailand as a king for 68 years. His code of ethics are to be a good father and to look over his people with justice. He worked hard to improve the quality of Thai peoples life, he did not work for money nor fame, but for the sake of Thai people. Therfore, hes the perfect leader.
