We now have to start thinking of topic ideas that are both related to our theme of Leadership and to your area of interest. We talked in class about narrowing, which is the first, and maybe the most important step in the writing process. If you don't have a specific point from the beginning, your writing (and the point of your writing) will suffer to the end... and so will you. Writing is awful when you don't know what you're writing about.In this journal blog, share what you're thinking about doing. Try to be as specific and as narrow as you can. The narrower, the better.

ReplyDeleteI am interested in sport because I always watch football and play sports. The sports that I love to play are golf and table tennis. In the topic of leadership, I want to write about John Terry who is the captain team of ChelseaFC. I think that this is close topic for me because I know leadership of him when he is in a field or in real life. I would like to write what he had done in the field for one season. I think leadership of John Terry is the topic that I want to do the most.
This will work if you can be specific to one particular season or one particular aspect of his leadership. For example, when we read about Suu Kyi, it was not about everything, but about one specific aspect of her, that being her meditation. What aspect of John Terry will you focus on?

ReplyDeletePersonally, I am interested in films especially, action and horror films. So, what I am thinking about doing is that I will write about films, of course, action films. I have decided to talk about what are the strategies and skills that action film directors need to have for leading their teams and directing movie. There are many successful action film directors, so I am going to choose three directors and write about them.
Choosing three directors is fine, but make sure you're focused on the strategy. I recommend that you focus on one particular strategy that these three directors use in common.

ReplyDeleteI am interested in animals and environment. Therefore, I am making decision between writing about the president/ environmental activist and how he led and made policies, controlling his people and become successful. Or animal rights activist who founded PETA and helped animals,created campaigns to save them.
Both are good, but I think you are at the "Subject" stage... can you narrow further to a particular point about either of these leaders and their fight for the environment or animal rights.

ReplyDeleteI am interested in the famous guy who related to political issue. So, I might decide to write about him, and this issue is interesting in many ways also. Furthermore, I have his historical book in my own language, and I even have researched on his actions in the few months ago. Anyway, I have decided three topics in the last class, so I think I cannot make a 100% decision for now. However, if you are asking me at this moment, I would say ''political issue''.
Ok... but this doesn't tell me anything. A "famous guy" is not a topic.

ReplyDeleteI would love to write about one one of the greatest an animator and a director in Japan, named Hayao Miyazaki. Some of his work are awarded for best picture and best animated feature. I really like his style of drawing and how his animations relate to world's issue, mostly about environmental problem. His graphic style is classic looking 2D along with his creativity of the characters are both stunning.
This looks good. So, are you planning to just focus on his style of drawing? I like this.

ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I am interested to write about King Naresuan, king of Siam during Ayutthaya time, and the war that he had fought with Myanmar. Eventually, he had won the battle, so, I am interested in how he had managed to win the battle. Therefore, I am thinking of writing about the methods of winning that he had used in this battle with Myanmar.
I like this. I think you're at the "Situation" step. Can you focus on a particular method... In a 3-4 page essay, we can't tell the story of King Naresuan. (There were 3 full-length movies made about him.) You will need to narrow down to a very particular aspect or method to make this essay work.
