This is the most crucial step in the writing process... thinking of a topic. Like we spoke about in class last week, a topic needs to be specific and focused. Only then will it be meaningful. General and wide is at risk of meaningless. And not to mention: high quality topics get high quality scores.When working to narrow down to a topic, you need to be thinking of a specific situation. There needs to be something that happened or a particular problem or phenomenon. You need to be able to describe it and introduce the situation to the reader. After that, you naturally move to one of the greatest questions we can ask: "... so, what?" If you can answer that question, then you have a topic.
In this journal blog, describe the "situation" that you're thinking to write about. Be as clear and as focused as you can be. I will give you my feedback on your plan, and yes, probably ask you, "so, what?" in order to find what high quality topics lay within the situation.

I'm going to write about why otaku being hated by society. First of all, the word otaku comes from Japan and it referred to someone who is very engaged in something (particularly watching Japan anime). However, Japan society has been looking down on otaku for a while as they considered these kind of people as geek and nerd. Some females in Japan really hate otaku and they do not want to touch them. This is because some otaku smile while reading cute sexy comics with anime girls on it and some referring an in-game character as 'my wife' which make female feel creepy when they stay with otaku. However, not only in Japan, many countries around the world also think that otaku is creepy. Take for example, Thailand. Thailand is one of the country that have many otaku; however, many people also have an influence of hated otaku from Japan and they also though that these kind of people are pervert and nerd. So they tend to stay away from otaku and not involve any activity with them. All in all, I would be writing about how do people become otaku, why Japanese hate otaku even they are the creator of anime and why other societies got hated influence from Japan. I would give some examples of otaku in different countries, the action of them and the perspective toward otaku from the country that I give example of otaku on, but I would mainly write about how they were discriminated from Japan society.

I recommend that you only focus on Japanese society. It may be true that this otaku phenomenon is in other countries like Thailand, but for the purpose of this essay, keep it focused. I can imagine a clever anecdote for opening up this introduction, as it is absolutely necessary that you introduce the reader to otaku, as it is something the reader would not know about.

DeleteIt can not deny the fact that the more schooling people receive, the more successful they will be in the future. Generally, people who do not receive formal education are probably face with failure. That’s the common perception. But there are some group of people who succeed in their life as an exception to the rule.

DeleteThe situation that I'm thinking to write about is the Howard Schultz's struggle to his company—Starbucks. The struggle that he had faced is that his company lost 3 million in sales because the Starbucks’ corner store in Seattle had a problem with major power outages, so it made all the point of sales systems across the U.S. and Canada shut down. In addition, there is more expense that Starbucks had to give away: the baristas had to do something to please customers and make customers surprised by handing out thousands of free drink.

DeleteSituation: The reasons why there are a large number of illegal clinics in Bangkok is that doctors do not want to pay taxes and also some doctors do not have medical license to operate on patients' bodies. Furthermore, uneducated people usually use illegal clinics because they do not acknowledge the negative effects of illegal surgery such as, infection and organ damage. Also people who have less money want to improve their appearances;but, they do not have money so they use illegal clinics as their last choice. Lastly, many people have any idea that these illegal clinics should d be closed knowing that it will benefit many patients in Bangkok.

DeleteI am going to talk about the girl who has posted her pictures on Instagram in order to motivate or inspire other people. She is Danish who trained hard; she lost 75 kilograms in 2 years. She is Fie Friedrichsen with only 23 aged. She is not afraid to post what she has encountered after she exercised hard for a long time which are lines and scars. She posted the pictures and motivated people to think about their health more than others think about yourself. From her pictures, she is not only assist the people who deal with the same situation as her, but she also inspire people to proud of their shave. With most of her pictures, a large number of people got inspired and thank you her for keep posting pictures. One of her follows posted that “she went from zero to hero”; it because she posted the picture when she was 19 year-old and the picture of herself right now.

Situation: Rohingyas are stateless people. Most of them live in Myanmar and no one wants them. From the last 3 years, over 120,000 Rohingyas have moved to settle aboard by ship since Myanmar government has launched the repressed Rohingyas policies. Following the incidents of migrant boat coming into the countries, many countries in South east Asian do not allow these people to enter the territory. As a result, there is a conflict between countries that which countries should handle these people.
